Yabancılar, ikamet izni uzatma başvurularını mevcut ikamet izinlerinin sona ermesine 60 gün kala yapabilirler.
Başvurunun İl Göç İdaresi Müdürlüğü tarafından reddedilmesi halinde, yabancıya ülkemizden ayrılması için tebliğ edilen kararda belirtilen süre verilir. Bu süre içinde Türkiye’den çıkış yapılması gerekmektedir.
Ancak her ret kararı, yabancının Türkiye’de yeni bir başvuru yapamayacağı anlamına gelmez.
Yabancı, kanunda öngörülen şartları taşıması halinde farklı bir ikamet izni türüyle yeni başvuru yapabilir. Örneğin, kısa dönem ikamet izni uzatma başvurusu reddedilen bir yabancı, bu süreçte Türk vatandaşı ile evlenmesi halinde gerekli şartları taşıyorsa aile ikamet izni için yeni başvuruda bulunabilir.
Buna karşılık, reddedilen ikamet izni türü için, ilgili mevzuatta belirtilen süre dolmadan yeniden başvuru yapılması mümkün değildir.
Ret kararına karşı yabancı, kararın kendisine tebliğ edilmesinden itibaren yasal süresi içinde İdare Mahkemesinde iptal davası açabilir. Gerekli şartların uygun bulunması halinde yürütmenin durdurulması da talep edilebilir.

A Foreign National Whose Application for a Residence Permit Extension Has Been Rejected Can They Apply Again?
Foreign nationals may submit applications to extend their residence permits 60 days before their current residence permits expire.
If the application is rejected by the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, the foreign national is granted the period specified in the decision served on them to leave the country. They must leave Turkey within this period.
However, a rejection does not necessarily mean that the foreign national can not submit a new application in Turkey.
A foreign national may submit a new application for a different type of residence permit, provided they meet the conditions set out in the law. For example, a foreign national whose application to extend a short-term residence permit has been refused may, if they meet the necessary conditions and marry a Turkish citizen during this process, submit a new application for a family residence permit.
Conversely, for the type of residence permit that has been refused, it is not possible to reapply before the period specified in the relevant legislation has expired.
A foreign national may bring an action for annulment before the Administrative Court against a rejection decision within the statutory time limit from the date the decision is served on them. If the necessary conditions are met, an application for a stay of execution may also be made.
